2025 Reflections

These days I find that I am grounded in reality. The sense of expectation and new adventures don’t seem as exciting as they used to. Maybe because both have been tempered by time and a sense that the hot flashes of life are in the mirror. Hope and promise still burn and thankfully they are ignited when the band plays. The comradery we share and the music we create tells me that we have a special place together in the band with our music. We are the masters, we create the canvas where we decide what will be presented on a given night. What we do and have is special, unique and something that I personally look forward to being a part of. I feel the music is a genuine expression of our feelings. We don’t play as much as we once did, but when we get together I still feel the joy I felt when we played years past. I feel that the songs Jeff produced from our last jam are some of the strongest we have done recently. Some of the past intensity and energy may not be front and center but I still hear an honesty and enjoyment in the songs. The world has taken on many faces through the years we have been playing. I like to think that we have attempted to keep the world accountable to be more honest through our music and lyrics.

Hang in there Jeff and Steve, we have much more gas in the tank. We have an obligation to keep on playing…

  1. More gas in the tank indeed. Let’s make 2025 our best year. Maybe we can target a jam every 5 weeks? that would average 10 jams over the year? Hard to believe we have so many years behind us. But we’ve definitely improved over that time. The lyrics read like a Treatise on Modern History. Looking forward to many more. Great post Davie.
