10 Years Plus Happy Times

I was going through the annuls of the website that Jeff has graciously maintained for us and I realized the site has been alive for over 10 years. While I am ashamed to say that I probably have socks that are older than 10 years, for the site to live that long is amazing. I will also admit that initially I joined on for what I believed to be a stepping stone to success. Well I was not wrong. People measure success in many ways. I consider myself more than blessed to have shared 10 years playing music with a group of guys who play because they love the music. True we have produced some gems as well as some clunkers but overall the journey has been something I would not trade. I believe that over the 10 years we have found ways to express how we see the world. Some of our songs are timely and perfectly encapsulate events that we experienced and have changed us all. I still listen to Wingman when I am in a certain mood and it never fails to inspire me and fill me with hope. When I hear Zeik Rudkins I flash back to crazy nights of frantic playing and the great feeling of how the song builds. The piano on Flowers on the wall still holds me like a warm spell. Our recent song Simple, when I say, “I don’t care what you think of me”, that’s true to the outside world. I care about the band because when we play I feel it is the creation of a life force that is unique to us. I appreciate so much what we have shared and what we have created. We have something that is ours and no body can take that from us. Whether we have played as the Fags, Bush and Gore, The Unprofessionals, 13 Channels or the Belvedere Brothers, I believe the results has been an honest effort at creative expression. Over the ten years the clock has changed us all. We may not be able to run as fast as we one could, but we can still take a run at leaping over tall buildings, going down the birth cannel and coming alive and merging the men we are now with the men we were ten years ago.

Well done boys. Stiffman (Jeff) you have made the journey so much better with your creative efforts to produce the music and maintain the website where our creative efforts continue to live and breathe.

  1. Thanks Dave for your thoughtful post.
On a side note what do you think of the band name: “The Counterfeit Transgender Lesbians”? We could go by CTL for short.
